GENERAL SURGERY: Split CD/LP With BUTCHER ABC Finally Released

January 3, 2009

Legendary Swedish grindcore merchants GENERAL SURGERY have issued the following update:

"The story goes back all the way to 2003 when we got asked by then Escorbuto Recordings president Johan Wallin if we would be interested in doing a split with Japanese gore maniacs BUTCHER ABC. Naturally, we were, and we planned to do it pretty much right after the split 7"s we did with MACHETAZO and FILTH. After that, things got changed up and we found ourselves working on our first album instead, and it wasn't until May 2007 [that] we got around to finally record the songs for this split. By this time it was decided that the release would be handled by Obliteration Records and Living Dead Society/Coperaction Records. BUTCHER ABC followed suit and recorded their material later in 2007, and finally here's the result, the most anticipated split release ever."

The track listing is as follows:

01. Antemortem Symphony #9
02. Enforced Accelerated Disintegration Constant
03. Anthropological Abattoir
04. Cadaverine Treatment Regimen
05. Visceral Asphyxiation
06. Recreational Decerebration
07. Untimely Embalmment

The CD version will be released via Obliteration Records on January 11, 2009. Contact address: [email protected]. The LP will be made available in February on Living Dead Society/Coperaction Records. The 12" version is a limited edition (1,000 copies) on splatter vinyl, with different cover/artwork from the CD version. Contact: [email protected].

GENERAL SURGERY will release its new album, "Corpus In Extremis: Analysing Necrocriticism", in March 2009 via Listenable Records. The CD was self-produced by the band at Off Beat studio in Stockholm and was mastered at Tailor Maid in Stockholm by Peter In De Betou.

Two songs from the CD are available for streaming on the band's MySpace page.

GENERAL SURGERY last year parted ways with singer Grant McWilliams and replaced him with Erik Sahlström (MAZE OF TORMENT, SERPENT OBSCENE).

GENERAL SURGERY's first full-length album, "Left Hand Pathology", was released in May 2006 via Listenable Records.
