Geographically Challenged SATYRICON Is 'Excited As Hell' To Be Playing 'South America'

May 8, 2007

Geographically challenged Norwegian black metallers SATYRICON will play three shows in Mexico in June. The band comments: "Finally we are going to South America! We had lined up shows in other countries than Mexico too, but due to circumstances beyond SATYRICON's control, Mexico is the only country we will visit this time. [Editor's note: For the record, Mexico is part of North America, not South America.] The good thing is that we have three shows in Mexico alone and we are excited as hell! More festivals in Europe confirmed as well and we expect one or two more to surface in the near future."

Upcoming SATYRICON shows:

Jun. 08 - Mexico City, Mexico - Circo Volador
Jun. 09 - Monterrey, Mexico - Cafe Iguana
Jun. 10 - Guadalajara, Mexico – [to be announced]
Jun. 29 - Leipzig, Germany - With Full Force
Jun. 30 - Austria - Soul Of Metal Festival
Jul. 05 - Geiselwind, Germany - Battle of Metal
Jul. 14 - Stavern, Norway - Stavernfestivalen
Jul. 15 - Novi Sad, Serbia - Exit Festival
Jul. 19 - Tolmin, Slovenia - Metalcamp
Jul. 21 - Mo I Rana, Norway - Vika
Aug. 04 - Rauma, Norway - Raumarock
Aug. 11 - Jaromer, Czech Republic - Brutal Assault
Aug. 12 - Budapest, Hungary - Sziget Festival

SATYRICON's video for the song "The Pentagram Burns" is available at this location (Quicktime required). Photos from the shoot can be seen here.

The "The Pentagram Burns" clip was filmed in August with director Håvard Arnstad in Oslo, Norway. "Visually the video is strongly linked with the look and the style from the album cover, hence we find ourselves covered with minor burns all over bodies and it feels nothing but good," the group writes on its web site.

SATYRICON's latest album, "Now, Diabolical", debuted at No. 2 on the national Norwegian chart and also charted in Sweden and Finland.
