GLENN DANZIG 'Had A Blast' Filming 'Portlandia' Guest Appearance

August 28, 2015

Glenn Danzig was in Portland, Oregon this past Tuesday, August 25 filming an episode of IFC's "Portlandia" with the show's creators, writers and stars Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein.

Commented Glenn: "Fred and Carrie are fantastic. I had a blast! Thanks to them and their whole team. [They are] another reason, along with Voodoo Doughnut and Powell's bookstore, that I dig Portland."

Glenn has signed his copy of the script, which Fred and Carrie also graciously signed for him, and will be auctioning it off, with all proceeds going to The Humane Society.

Back in 2009, Brownstein and Armisen filmed a video for Paper in which they hung outside Danzig's home.

"Portlandia", which is shot entirely on location in Portland, Oregon, received the prestigious Peabody Award for excellence in 2012. Considered the "Pulitzer Prize for radio" when it was founded in 1940, the Peabody Awards have grown to recognize excellence in a wide range of electronic media, from radio, to television, to original web content. According to the 16-member Peabody Board, which gives out the awards, "Portlandia" "was recognized for the freshness and amiability of its send-ups of Oregon's trendy city." It also won an Emmy in 2013 for "Outstanding Costumes For A Variety Program Or Special."

The critically acclaimed series began its fifth season in January 2015.
