GLENN HUGHES Joined By RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS' CHAD SMITH At London Gig

June 13, 2008

RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS drummer Chad Smith joined legendary vocalist/bassist Glenn Hughes (DEEP PURPLE, BLACK SABBATH) on stage at Glenn's London gig at the Astoria 2 this past Tuesday (June 10). Smith and Glenn played several songs together, including "Don't Let Me Bleed", "Love Communion", "Steppin' On", "Soul Mover" and "Burn".

Fan-filmed video footage from the concert can be viewed below.

Chad Smith laid down all the drum tracks on Hughes' latest album, "First Underground Nuclear Kitchen (F.U.N.K.)", which was released last month via Frontiers Records. Produced by Glenn in Los Angeles, after countless hours spent writing in his home studio, "F.U.N.K." is described in a press release as "another magnificent statement from the 'Voice of Rock.'" "It is a roots album, it is a true account of my musical heritage but also fearless and multi-dimensional," said Hughes. Luis Maldonado took care of the majority of the guitars (JJ Marsh and George Nastos only appear on two songs each) and Anders Olinder is on keyboards (with Ed Roth guesting on three songs).
