GLENN HUGHES: New Solo Album To Include Track By RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS Guitarist
November 17, 2005According to GHPG.net, legendary vocalist/bassist Glenn Hughes (DEEP PURPLE, BLACK SABBATH) has posted the following message on the site's "Fan Forum":
"I got together with Chad [Smith, drums; RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS] yesterday and played the new songs to him again on acoustic guitar. We'll be finishing things up between now and Christmas and then heading to the studio first thing in the New Year. JJ [Marsh, guitar] will be over then and staying with me and Gab [wife] during recording time.
"John Frusciante [RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS guitarist] has written a song for me for the new album and we're getting together on Monday to go over a couple of other things.
"Ryan Hewitt is the engineer and mixer for the new record. He's worked with the CHILI PEPPERS, BLINK-182, U2, BON JOVI, BILLY JOEL and many others.
"There'll be a new video shot in early February and we're talking to Jim LaRocca about that. You may remember, he directed 'Days Of Avalon'. Not sure which song yet. It'll be filmed at Chad's other home in Malibu.
"In other news, 'Soul Mover' is going to be released in Australia very soon with the addition of 'Nights In White Satin' and a couple of other bonus tracks. I hope to pay a visit there in February for promotion and maybe even a couple of shows. There's also some shows in South America (Brazil, Argentina, Chile & Uruguay) in March that we're hoping to get confirmed soon."
Hughes's latest solo album, "Soul Mover", was released eaelier in the year on Sanctuary Records. The CD was recorded live at Sound Image Studios in Los Angeles in the spring of 2004 and features Smith, JJ Marsh on guitar and Ed Roth on keyboards. The album also contains a special guest appearance by ex-RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS and JANE'S ADDICTION guitarist Dave Navarro on the title track.
Hughes's most recent full-length release was a collaboration with BLACK SABBATH guitarist Tony Iommi on Iommi's solo album "Fused". Joining Iommi and Hughes on "Fused" was former JOHN MELLENCAMP drummer Kenny Aronoff, who has also played sessions with the likes of THE ROLLING STONES, BOB DYLAN, ROD STEWART, ALICE COOPER, BOB SEGER, LYNYRD SKYNYRD and countless others.
