GLENN TIPTON: 'Angel Of Retribution' Is 'Classic JUDAS PRIEST'

January 19, 2005

JUDAS PRIEST guitarist Glenn Tipton has told Launch Radio Networks that despite nearly a decade-and-a-half apart, the group's writing process for the upcoming CD, "Angel of Retribution", was not forced in any way. "We've obviously evolved, but one of the things we said to ourselves on this album is we're not gonna try too hard to write an album to order," he said. "We're just gonna write naturally. We're fortunate that we've got a formula in this band, a writing formula, that, even though we've evolved, is still unmistakably PRIEST. And although this album has evolved, I think it's pretty classic PRIEST, and I think that's what people want."

As previously reported, thirty-second clips of all ten tracks from "Angel of Retribution" have been posted online at SonyMusic.co.uk. The album, which features the return of original vocalist Rob Halford to the band's ranks after 14 years, is scheduled for release on March 1.

"Angel of Retribution" was produced by Roy Z, who has previously worked on solo albums from Halford and IRON MAIDEN's Bruce Dickinson. The set will be bundled with a concert DVD shot in a bullring in Valencia, Spain. "Angel of Retribution" will also be released in the DualDisc format, with the CD on one side of the disc and DVD material on the other.
