'Global Metal' Documentary: Filmmakers Seek Information On Metal Scenes From Around the World

July 21, 2006

The makers of the documentary "Metal: A Headbanger's Journey" are seeking information about metal scenes in different countries for their follow-up film, "Global Metal", which will explore the global spread of heavy metal music and culture. "The goal of this film is to discover what is happening in metal scenes around the world," say co-directors Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn. "Metal has spread throughout Asia, South America, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and even Africa. We want to discover what metal means to musicians and fans who come from these diverse cultures."

The filmmakers are seeking information from fans, musicians, promoters, magazine writers, record store-owners etc. from the following countries:

Indonesia
China
Taiwan
Japan
Israel
Brazil
Colombia
Poland
Russia
Iran
Morocco
Egypt
Korea
…and any other African countries

If you have any information on metal in these countries, please contact the directors at [email protected]

"Global Metal" is the follow-up film to "Metal: A Headbanger's Journey" which explored metal's impact and controversy over the past 35 years and featured interviews with Tony Iommi, Bruce Dickinson, Alice Cooper, Ronnie James Dio, SLAYER, Dee Snider, ARCH ENEMY, LAMB OF GOD, CANNIBAL CORPSE, EMPEROR and many more. The two-disc DVD set was released in North America in May and includes extended interviews, an interactive metal history chart, and a mini-doc on Norwegian black metal.
