GOAT THE HEAD Parts Ways With Bassist, Announces Replacement

December 12, 2008

Norwegian death metallers GOAT THE HEAD have issued the following update:

"We've had some changes in our primal caveman personnel. GOAT THE HEAD and bassist Snorre Hovdal has decided to part ways. There's not much drama in this, we've just evolved in somewhat different directions. GOAT THE HEAD are still very grateful for everything Snorre have done for the band and will naturally wish him all the best in his future endeavours!

"New man responsible for the low-end frequencies in the caveman collective is mister Trond Frønes. Trond has a broad musical background and some of you may know him from bands such as CADILLAC and ALL TROUBLE. We're very excited to see what the future can bring with Trond in on the troglodyte team.

"Work on our sophomore full-length album is well underway. We've already recorded one pre-production of eight songs and it's not bad. Not bad at all. As a sneak peek, here are some titles for you: 'Primal Caveman Death Metal', 'Salt', 'Uncanny Valley Clan' and 'Bestial Domestication'. There are even som nifty surprises in store...

"Kenneth [Kapstad, drums] has been busy lately setting up a tribute to SLAYER which will be taking place at Blæst here in Trondheim this upcoming Saturday (13th of December). The band consists of the new GOAT THE HEAD lineup in addition to Christian Broholt from THORNS. Per [Spjøtvold, GOAT THE HEAD vocalist] will sing a song our two, but the vocal duties will be divided among a great selection of guests, all eager to make this a memorable night with the best metal tracks written in history, performed with the rawness and intensity that SLAYER deserves."

GOAT THE HEAD's video for the song "Darwinian Minions" — an epic track whose no-holds-brutality lasts a whopping 16 seconds — can be viewed below.

"Darwinian Minions" comes off the group's debut album, "Simian Supremacy", which was released via Tabu Recordings in October 2007.

Musically ferocious, uncouth and coarse in appearance, the Trondheim-based GOAT THE HEAD prefers to keep things "simple and organic," an attitude that is mirrored in its live shows, peppered with nudity and primitive rituals.
