GOD DETHRONED Announces New Guitarist

June 28, 2010

Dutch melodic death metallers GOD DETHRONED have issued the following update:

"We've been working hard on a new album lately and just finished songwriting. Our second album with a World War One theme. Mike [Michiel van der Plicht] and Henri [Sattler; vocals, guitar] will start laying down drum and guitar tracks at Soundlodge Studios (Germany) with producer Jörg Uken. It's our third time recording there as we have been very pleased with the results of the previous albums.

"We would like to thank Ian Jekelis (ABIGAIL WILLIAMS) for playing guitar with us on the Killfest tour in the U.S. where we supported OVERKILL on many great and successful shows. We also would like to welcome Danny Tunker as our new lead guitarist. Danny already played with us on a few shows and festivals and we decided to give him the chance to show his skills on our new album."

Aniruddh "Andrew" Bansal of Metal Assault conducted an interview with GOD DETHRONED guitarist/vocalist Henri Sattler prior to the band's April 20, 2010 concert at the House Of Blues in West Hollywood, California. Topics of discussion included touring with OVERKILL and VADER; current tour setlist; touring guitarist; writing process of the upcoming album; concept behing the band's latest CD, "Passiondale"; maintaining a fan base despite genre changes; touring the States as a European band; Henri's nickname Serpent King; and upcoming plans.

GOD DETHRONED's video for the track "Poison Fog" can be viewed below. The song is described as "one of the most lyrically intense songs" from the group's latest CD, "Passiondale". The clip was directed by Maurice Swinkels.

"Passiondale" was released in April 2009 as a limited double digipack edition including a bonus CD. The double-digipack features stunning artwork and two discs: the regular album plus a live recording from 2005 featuring nine songs! The CD was recorded at Soundlodge studios in Germany with producer Jörg Uken.
