GOD FORBID Check In From U.K. Tour

March 7, 2006

GOD FORBID are currently on the road in the U.K. as the support act for TRIVIUM. The band's guitarist/vocalist Doc Coyle has checked in with the following update:

"Right now, we're five days into our U.K./Ireland tour with TRIVIUM, MENDEED, with BLOODSIMPLE joining us in about a week. I have to say that so far, this is the best U.K. tour we've ever done, if not the best tour we have ever done. For those who don't know, EVERY SINGLE SHOW ON THIS TOUR IS PRE SOLD OUT! TRIVIUM are massive over here, and fortunately for us, their good fortune seems to be rubbing off on us a bit. It's a very young crowd, so all of the fans are so open-minded. Every night, from our first note these kids are going fucking mental! Between every song, 'GOD FORBID' chants ring through the venue. It's overwhelming. We are having a blast, to say the least.

"We took TRIVIUM on their first tour less than two years ago because we liked their music, and it's great that they appreciated that, and brought us back out in the midst of their incredible success. A big thanks goes to those guys.

"We got to play Ireland for the first time since we toured there with KILLSWITCH [ENGAGE] and CHIMAIRA back in '04. We have definitely gained popularity in the last couple years. We did a signing at Tower Records in Dublin for 2 hours. Definitely the best in-store we've ever done. Just to give you an idea of how crazy these kids are, we got off the tour bus to a crowd of kids chanting our names as we each got off the bus. Not 'GOD FORBID', but 'Byron', 'Corey', 'Doc!' Nuts, I tell you. These kids are at the venue from like noon, screaming 'TRIVIUM' until the doors open, and then they stay until 2 in the morning in the cold with usually no more than a T-shirt until bands come out to sign and take pictures. The dedication is mind-boggling. I wish metal was exposed more to younger kids in the U.S. I'm happy bands like AVENGED SEVENFOLD are getting on MTV and radio, because it will get more American kids to get into metal, and I think that's what we need.

"This is only four days into the tour mind you. We've still got 2 and ½ weeks left, and with massive gigs left in Glasgow, Manchester, and London, it's only going to crazier.

"In other news, I'm sure many of you have heard that we're going on tour with our good friends in CHIMAIRA, ARCH ENEMY, and Erik and HATE ETERNAL. This is also a Jager-sponsored tour, and will be one of the best line-ups of the year for sure! We're lucky to be able to play with such great bands tour after tour.

"We're currently working on summer touring plans, and will definitely be doing some European festivals as well as some kind of package tour in the States."
