GODHEAD Frontman's New Single Featured On HBO's 'True Blood'
July 31, 2010GODHEAD frontman Jason Charles Miller reveals his solo sound to the world this weekend, when his debut single, "You Get What You Pay For", is unveiled across all media formats.
The single — which is available now on iTunes — is prominently featured in this week's episode of "True Blood", which airs Sunday night on HBO, and is available starting Monday on HBO On Demand. The track also makes its radio debut this weekend, where it will be featured on Buzz Brainard's "Altville", a syndicated weekly program that combines the best in alternative, progressive and insurgent country with Americana and roots rock.
While many are calling Miller's sound a progression from his role as frontman and principal songwriter of the hard rock outfit GODHEAD, it can more accurately be called a regression. His solo material strips away the technical evolution and heavy electronics of GODHEAD, relying instead on the bare bones of his singer-songwriter roots, and the primal influence of artists including Johnny Cash, Neil Young, Kris Kristofferson and Willie Nelson.
"One of the things I've always loved to do is just sit around with an acoustic guitar and sing," says Miller. "I'm a true believer that if a song doesn't sound good with just a singer and a guitar, then it's probably not a very good song."
Miller also co-wrote and produced the song "Game On", which was released earlier this week as the promotional music video for season four of "The Guild" web series, starring Felicia Day. The show has won numerous awards, including the SXSW, YouTube and Yahoo! Web Series awards in 2008, and three Streamy Awards in 2009: Best Comedy Web Series, Best Ensemble and Best Actress (Felicia Day).
