GODS OF FIRE To Perform In 'Air Guitar The Musical'

July 25, 2006

After bringing down the house as the special musical guests of the 2006 New York City and Boston regional U.S. Air Guitar competitions, New York City-based power metal/thrash act GODS OF FIRE has been tapped to be the live band for a musical about the phenomenon.

The story centers around an electric guitarist named Drew who has gotten lost in his own self-hatred and pretension. Through the prodding of his exasperated wife and best friend, Drew is drawn into the world of Air Guitar, where mulleted contestants compete to be the greatest player of pretend guitar in the world. Drew, much to his dismay, discovers that he is really good at playing the invisible guitar, and finds all the fame that has eluded him as an actual guitarist.

The GODS OF FIRE will be on stage in full costume performing a full-on metal score. In addition to backing up the cast for the high energy power metal songs, the GODS will be performing all the air guitar solos live on stage.

Tickets for the show, which takes place at the Harry de Jur playhouse in lower Manhattan, go on sale July 28 at www.fringenyc.org.

The GODS OF FIRE are currently writing the follow-up to their 2005 debut album, "Wrath of the Gods".
