GODSMACK Frontman Talks New Solo Album; Video Available
March 11, 2009Rockerrazzi.com conducted an interview with frontman Sully Erna of GODSMACK at this year's World Poker Tour L.A. Poker Classic Celebrity Invitational, which was held earlier this month. Watch the two-minute chat below. As this was an "invitational" event, only well known poker pros, players who did well during this year's Classic, and celebrities from television, movies, music and sports were allowed to play, making for an exciting event featuring many highly recognizable faces.
According to The Pulse of Radio, Sully Erna has completed work on his first solo album, although he has yet to reveal a title or release date for the disc. Instead, the New England-based Erna has been spending a lot of time in Los Angeles lately, where he told The Pulse of Radio he's taking a different approach to getting his new music heard. "What we're doing right now is just speaking with a lot of different film companies to see what movies are coming out this year and next year and trying to attach some of the songs to that, 'cause it's a very different kind of sounding record," he said. "It's definitely a huge departure from anything I've ever done."
Erna also confirmed that writing is underway for GODSMACK's fifth studio album and first collection of all-new material since 2006's "IV", with the record likely to come out in 2010.
In late 2007, the band released a greatest hits collection called "Good Times, Bad Times - Ten Years of Godsmack" and announced that it was going on hiatus. Erna worked on his solo album during this period, while the other three members of the group started a side project called ANOTHER ANIMAL.
GODSMACK's name has been floated in rumors about the lineup of this summer's Crüe Fest 2 tour, but the bill has yet to be officially announced.
