GOJIRA To Open For METALLICA In France

May 5, 2008

French metallers GOJIRA have been confirmed as the opening act for METALLICA on Thursday, August 14 at Grand d'Arras in Arras, France.

METALLICA has not played in France since its 2004 concert at the Parc des Princes and 25,000 people are expected to attend the Arras show. This will also be GOJIRA's first live appearance since the group's North American tour in November 2007.

Commented GOJIRA in a statement: "We're all big fans of [METALLICA] and grew up as musicians by listening to their classic albums also. It was major news for us to be added on the bill. We feel it's another achievement for us and we're truly honored."

Having completed more than 220 shows in order to promote the acclaimed
"From Mars to Sirius" album, GOJIRA is currently recording its new CD for a tentative October release via the French label Monslip/Warner in France and Listenable Records and various licensors in other parts of the world. The band will immediately embark on a series of major tours in Europe and throughout the U.S. right after the release.

A short video clip of GOJIRA rehearsing and writing material for the upcoming album can be viewed below.

"From Mars To Sirius" saw an August 2006 release through Prosthetic Records in North America and a September 2005 release in Europe through Listenable.
