GREAT WHITE Nightclub Fire Survivor Creates 'Rolling Memorial' To Victims

Kyle Alspach of The Enterprise reports: One hundred names cover the back of Paul Bertolo's car.

They are the names of 100 people who weren't as lucky as he was.

Bertolo survived the deadly blaze at a Rhode Island nightclub in 2003 and spent the last six months creating the car that he says will be a "rolling memorial."

"This is something I had to do," said Bertolo, 49, who restores classic cars for a living.

The Brockton, Massachusetts resident said it is the best tribute he could think of — both to the victims and to the firefighters who risked their lives when The Station club went up in flames on Feb. 20, 2003.

The 1959 Chevrolet Biscayne is painted fire engine red, has a working siren and contains gold leaf lettering, as found on fire trucks.

The hood and doors of the car read "RI Fire Survivor," and the sides contain the phrases "Safety First" and "Never Forget."
