GREGG ALLMAN's Daughter: 'If No One Hates You In This Industry, You're Doing Something Wrong'

November 12, 2010

Eric Blair of "The Blairing Out With Eric Blair Show" recently conducted an interview with Layla "Brooklyn" Allman, the 17-year-old daughter of legendary Southern rocker and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Gregg Allman and current frontwoman of San Francisco Bay Area poppy metalcorists PICTURE ME BROKEN. Watch the chat below.

When asked what she would say to the BLABBERMOUTH.NET naysayers who denounce PICTURE ME BROKEN as nothing more than another "emo" band that looks like they were custom-made by Disney, Brooklyn replied, "I would rather have someone hate my band than have someone be indifferent to my band. Honestly, if no one hates you in this industry, you're doing something wrong. I'd rather have people talking about us and I'd rather people get worked up enough to the fact that they'll go on those sites and post things because, essentially, that's the essence of success."

PICTURE ME BROKEN released its debut album, "Wide Awake", in early July via the legendary metal label Megaforce Records.

"Wide Awake"'s vicious opener, "Dearest (I'm So Sorry)", not only sets the tone for the band's fiery debut, but the song also earned the band an MTV VMA for "Best Breakout Bay Area Band” in 2009.

PICTURE ME BROKEN's blend of hard-rock, post-hardcore and metal is lad by the vocal onslaught of Allman, "which can move ably from a siren's call to a screeching roar at the slightest provocation," says Alternative Press. Recorded while the band was still in high school, mostly over the weekends and after class, "Wide Awake" is a collection of new and old songs that reflect the band's growth over the years. Written and recorded sporadically over a year, "Wide Awake" was recorded with notable Bay Area producers Scott Llamas of Popsmear Records and Aaron Hellam, with additional production work from Scott Gillman and famed producer Mudrock (AVENGED SEVEONFOLD, GODSMACK),with Shelly Yakus (JOHN LENNON, U2, RAMONES) of MyStudio.net after-mastering the album.

PICTURE ME BROKEN is Brooklyn (vocals, synth),Nick Loiacono (lead guitar),Will Escher (rhythm guitar),Austin Dunn (bass, vocals),and Connor Lung (drums). Guest vocalist Tyler Bush (of TEN DAYS NEW) appears on "Echoes of an Empire".
