GRIFFIN Parts Ways With Drummer, Announces Replacement

July 22, 2006

Norwegian metallers GRIFFIN have issued the following update:

"Due to obligations towards a new job as head chef in a steakhouse restaurant, our drummer, Marius [Karlsen], has decided to leave GRIFFIN. There's simply no time left for rehearsals for him. Alessandro Elide, [who] did an outstanding job filling in for Marius on the European tour, will replace him. Alessandro is considered by many as one of the finest metal drummers in Norway. This will not affect his position in his main band MANIFEST."

In other news, GRIFFIN have uploaded a couple of preview clips from their upcoming DVD, which will be included with the limited-edition version of their next album. Check out the video footage: Clip#1, Clip#2.

GRIFFIN released their fourth full-length album, entitled "Lifeforce", in August 2005 via Massacre Records. The Japanese and European editions of the album contain a bonus track called "Unforgiver", featuring KING DIAMOND's Andy LaRocque on lead guitar.

The follow-up to 2004's "No Holds Barred", "Lifeforce" was recorded at Godt Selskap studios in Trondheim, Norway and was mixed by LaRocque at his Los Angered Studio in Gothenburg, Sweden.

GRIFFIN, who enlisted vocalist Rolf Bakken to front the group following the departure of Pete Beck, supported KING DIAMOND on a European tour in May and June.
