GUNS N' ROSES 'Confirmed' For Portugal's ROCK IN RIO Festival

According to a posting on Sp1at.com, the organizers of the Rock In Rio (Lisbon) festival have confirmed that GUNS N' ROSES will be headlining the event on May 27. Confirmation is set to appear on the Rock In Rio web site in the next 24 hours.

In other news, GUNS N' ROSES manager Merck Mecuriadis has reportedly confirmed to MyGNR.com that GN'R are indeed playing the Nova Rock festival in Austria on June 15-17. When asked what other dates GN'R are playing over the summer, Merck reportedly responded, "You will see more if we announce more."

Also on the GN'R-related front, www.GunsNRosesOnline.de is reporting that GUNS N' ROSES will play the Rock am Ring festival on June 3-6 in Nurburgring, Germany. Meanwhile, TheNewGuns.com is reporting that the band are confirmed for the Gods of Metal festival, set to take place June 3-4 in Italy.

Jun. 3-4 - ITA @ Gods of Metal
Jun. 3-6 - Nurburgring, GER @ Rock an Ring
Jun. 15-17 - Pannonia Fields, AUT @ Nova Rock

In a rare interview conducted by Rolling Stone magazine on Jan. 13, GUNS N' ROSES frontman Axl Rose promised fans that the band will be back in 2006 with the long-awaited "Chinese Democracy" album.

"People will hear music this year," Rose said. "'Chinese Democracy' is a very complex record. I am trying to do something different. Some of the arrangements are kind of like QUEEN."

He also added he is working on 32 songs for the album and 26 are finished out of which 13 will feature on the final album. Some songs include "Better", "There was a Time" and "The Blues".
