GUNS N' ROSES Joined By IZZY STRADLIN At L.A. Show

December 18, 2006

Ex-GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Izzy Stradlin joined his former bandmate, Axl Rose, and his new version of GUNS N' ROSES on stage at the Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal CityWalk in Universal City, CA Sunday night (Dec. 17) for five numbers.

According to Reuters, Stradlin, who quit GUNS N' ROSES in November 1991 and has lived a fairly reclusive existence ever since, looked like a Blues Brother, decked out in dark suit, fedora and shades. He played guitar and contributed harmonies to "Think About You", "Used to Love Her", "Patience" and "Nightrain", and returned for the final tune, "Paradise City". Watch video clips of "Mr. Brownstone" (video) and "The Blues" (video) from last night's show.

Stradlin has made a handful of surprise appearances at GUNS shows this year, beginning last May in New York, and continuing during the European swing over the summer. Until this year, he had not played with the band since 1993, when he briefly subbed for his injured replacement, Gilby Clarke.

Rose last week announced on GUNS N' ROSES' official web site a "tentative" March 6 release date for the band's eternally delayed new album, "Chinese Democracy". In the posting, Rose also revealed he has split with longtime manager Merck Mercuriadis due to disagreements over the set up for the album release.

In order to properly plan for the release, GNR has canceled four January shows in Sacramento, Calif., Bakersfield, Calif., Reno, Nev., and San Diego.

"Chinese Democracy" is the first GUNS N' ROSES album since the 1993 covers collection "The Spaghetti Incident". In the ensuing decade, the group has lost every original member besides Rose and burned through a reported $13 million in recording expenses.
