GUNS N' ROSES made its first U.S. concert appearance in four years Friday night (August 13) when it headlined the fifth and final night of the Rock 'N Rev Festival at the 70th annual Sturgis Bike Rally in Sturgis, South Dakota. GUNS N' ROSES was joined on the bill that evening by original headliner ALICE IN CHAINS, REV THEORY and CHARM CITY DEVILS.
Although initial speculation was that singer Axl Rose was to blame for GUNS N' ROSES' late start at the event, Dan Catullo, one of the festival's founders, told the Rapid City Journal that a technical glitch that took longer than expected to fix caused GUNS N' ROSES' set to begin at 12:50 a.m. Saturday — around an hour and 20 minutes later than scheduled. A concert review in Rapid City Journal pointed out that by the time GUNS N' ROSES took the stage, about 25 percent of the fans went home — and some of them left angry.
GUNS N' ROSES last toured the U.S. in 2006, and had not played any American shows since the November 2008 release of its "Chinese Democracy" album.
