GUNS N' ROSES: 'Reckless Road' Multimedia Edition Out Now

According to the Associated Press, a multimedia edition of the GUNS N' ROSES biography "Reckless Road", in which author Marc Canter tells of the making of the band's multimillion-selling debut, "Appetite for Destruction", goes on sale Wednesday, May 19. It was produced by Vook, an Alameda, California-based digital publisher. The edition will include text, studio and concert footage and interviews with GUNS N' ROSES band members, but not singer Axl Rose. It has a suggested price of $4.99 and can be downloaded from Vook's web site or from Apple's iTunes.

Marc Canter, the owner/manager of the legendary rock 'n' roll hangout Canter's Deli in Los Angeles, has been friends with Slash since the fifth grade when Slash allegedly tried to steal Marc's bike. Canter has photographed and recorded (audio and video) every performance that GUNS N' ROSES played on the Sunset Strip in the group's early days — from their first show on June 6, 1985, to their first intentional tour in 1987 as the "newly" signed act for Geffen Records.

"Reckless Road" contains interviews with Slash, Duff McKagan and Steven Adler, as well as groupies, failed producers, and former managers and bandmates. Canter amassed a treasure trove of memorabilia, including:

* Lyrics to "My Michelle", written on the back of a water-stained flier
* A $37,500 advance check from Geffen that has Slash's name misspelled as "Stash"
* 1,000 never-before-seen photos
* Audio/video recordings for the bands first 50 shows
