Halifax Concert Promoter Hoping METALLICA Is A Bigger Draw Than PAUL MCCARTNEY

May 10, 2011

According to Metro Halifax, concert promoter Harold MacKay is hoping METALLICA's newly announced concert at the 30,000-capacity Garrison Grounds in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada will be a sellout. The concert on July 14 will also feature MATT MAYS, PROTEST THE HERO, SEETHER and COHEED & CAMBRIA.

"You never know what you're going sell, but it's a great site and we've got one of the biggest bands in the world performing so I think we'll be fine," MacKay said.

The Paul McCartney concert on the Common drew only 26,504 ticket holders.

MacKay's new company, Rock The Hill, was registered with the province at the end of March. It's associated with MacKay Entertainment Inc., which is registered by his wife Michele MacKay.

The economic spinoffs will be $6 million to $7 million if 20,000 people buy tickets, predicted MacKay.

Tickets for the METALLICA concert go on sale Thursday, May 12 at noon local time and will be available at RockTheHill.ca or by phone at 1-877-569-7767. General-admission tickets are $99.50 and there are a limited number of VIP tickets for $199.50. Service charges and taxes will apply to all ticket orders. VIP ticket holders will have access to the front of stage pit, their own entrance and concessions, and the all-important special washrooms.
