Health And Safety Fears Could Prevent Statue Of FREDDIE MERCURY From Coming To Edinburgh
February 20, 2009Scotsman.com reports that and safety fears could prevent a statue of QUEEN singer Freddie Mercury coming to Edinburgh.
Problems have arisen in finding a place to put a 19ft bronze statue of the star that will not cause problems for pedestrians and motorists in Edinburgh.
The plan was to display the 680kg tribute on the pavement outside the Edinburgh Playhouse, before the planned production of "We Will Rock You" in November.
Local businesses welcomed the plan, but council leaders have said it could block pedestrians going to and from the venue, on Leith Walk, and might prove to be a distraction to people driving past.
