'Heavy Metal Wedding' For Huntington, West Virginia Neo-Classical Guitarist

July 17, 2008

Huntington, West Virginia-based neo-classical guitarist Jimi Mitchell (MySpace page) — who is said to be "a lifelong devotee of all things metal" — married his girlfriend Jenny Navy on July 12, 2008 in the bride and groom's backyard in an all-heavy metal wedding ceremony that was officiated by Adam Barraclough.

Commented Barraclough: "[Jimi's] passion for metal is profound and true, and this wedding ceremony is only one of the many ways he's expressed that in his everyday life. The bride, Jenny Navy, has always been 'that hot metal chick.' Her love of '80s 'cock rock' and 'hair metal' is enduring and legendary, she's also one of the kindest and sweetest people in the world.

He continued, "They decided on a non-traditional ceremony because it just felt right for them. They didn't want a bunch of mushy bullshit or something that drug out for too long. They wanted the party to start the moment people started walking down the aisle. More than anything, they told me that they just wanted everyone to have a good time."
