(HED)P.E. Guitarist: LIMP BIZKIT's 'Nookie' Is Cheesy And Dumb
February 25, 2003(HED)P.E. have finished filming the video for "Blackout", the first single and title track from their forthcoming CD, due on March 18 through Jive Records. The video, along with special behind-the-scenes footage of the making of the clip, can be viewed at this location. In other news, (HED)P.E. guitarist Westyle recently told PITRIFF.com that he and his bandmates are not bothered by the fact that LIMP BIZKIT — who are considered by many to be stylistically-similar, yet musically inferior, to (HED)P.E. — have been much more commercially successful than the rest of the rap-metal pack. "I don't think it annoys us," he said. "There's reasons for everything, man. [LIMP BIZKIT] do things their way, and we do things our way. I can only speak for myself, but to me, a song like 'Nookie' is just cheesy and is not as good as 'Bartender'. It's got a catchy hook, but at least in my opinion, it's just kind of dumb. But somewhere along the way the business decided to support that one harder than they did 'Bartender', you know. I don't think it bothers us that they have more success than we do. We're not trendy, and we won't ever be. We've been doing this for years. I hear a lot of bands on the radio that aren't really that good, but their song gets the right amount of push and has the right backing to it, and they stay on the radio. It's important to get some of that love from radio, but it's not the only thing that makes or breaks a band like us."
