HELIX Interviewed On 'Wyldside Radio'; Video Available
August 3, 2009Canadian hard rock veterans HELIX were interviewed by "Wyldside Radio" on July 10, 2009 prior to the band's performance at the Rocklahoma festival in Pryor, Oklahoma. Watch the question-and-answer session below.
HELIX has set "Vagabond Bones" as the title of its new album, tentatively due in the fall in Europe through AOR Heaven. According to singer Brian Vollmer, the first three tracks to be completed for the new CD, "which have been heard by several people in the industry now, have been getting high marks. Notable in this regard is Derek Oliver of Rock Candy Records, which over the past several years has released remastered versions of 'Walking The Razor's Edge' and 'No Rest For The Wicked'. Derek was also a writer for Kerrang! magazine back in the day. Derek thinks this is some of the best stuff he's ever heard from us."
Vollmer added, "Sean [Kelly; CRASH KELLY] is leaving HELIX [where he played bass] to become the new guitarist for NELLY FURTADO. However, Sean is committed to continued writing with me (and occasionally Moe Berg) and to finishing this CD. I would like to think that the relationship will continue for years. Sean is one of the most likeable guys in the business and comes highly recommended by almost everyone who meets him."
HELIX has been active in the past several years with several releases. The band's most recent collection of original material, "The Power of Rock and Roll", came out in 2007. Their latest CD, "A Heavy Mental Christmas", was made available in all Canadian Wal-Mart stores last November and received airplay worldwide. The CD also received great reviews from the critics.
