January 11, 2010

More than a dozen metal bands will descend to the north end of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada on January 29-30 for a two-day metal festival at Gus' Pub. Hell Freezes Over will feature two evenings of pulse-pounding heavy metal. Headlining Friday evening is the local metal supergroup NORTH END METAL ALL STARS with support from Diminished Fifth Records artists THY FLESH CONSUMED and ORCHID'S CURSE. Also performing the first evening are SPEW, BURNT CHURCH and IGNIGHTOR, who feature members of Halifax's BURNING MOON. Saturday will see local favorites HELLACAUST headlining with support from FISTFIGHT, TERRATOMB, NOVICHOK, NAPALM RAID and HATE DIVISION. As an extra treat, there will be a brunch matinee on Saturday which will feature two tribute bands, SCREAMING FOR VENGEANCE (JUDAS PRIEST tribute) and COVERSLAVE (who perform songs from BLACK SABBATH, MEGADETH, METALLICA and more).

Myron Cottereau, who is one of the organizers, stated: "Hell Freezes Over will feature a mix of veteran bands as well as the gifted new up-and-coming acts from the Maritimes. Together we will ring in 2010 in a grand orchestra of brutality and success."
