"Stampede" was recorded at Abbott's home in Arlington, Texas, where he has a studio set up. He told The Pulse of Radio that the guys all got started on the album in May 2009. "We worked for two weeks," he said. "I think we wrote five songs the first two weeks that we were together. And then MUDVAYNE went and did another summertime tour. And then we had a small session in the middle and got back together and really got to the meat of it in October. And then Chad and Greg were in quite a bit during January and February to finish it up."
Now that the record is finished, HELLYEAH will hit the road for a worldwide tour beginning here in the U.S. on April 24 in Tampa, Florida, with dates booked so far through late May. The group will then head overseas.
The group's self-titled debut has sold more than 350,000 copies since coming out in April 2007.
