HIGH ON FIRE Signs With KOCH RECORDS

December 13, 2008

Oakland, California's HIGH ON FIRE has inked a new deal with Koch Records. The band's new studio album is expected sometime in 2009.

HIGH ON FIRE's former record label, Relapse, will release a live album from the group entitled "Live From The Relapse Contamination Festival" on January 6. The eight-song CD was recorded at the 2003 edition of the festival and includes a cover version of VENOM's "Witching Hour".

"Live From The Relapse Contamination Festival" track listing:

01. Blood From Zion
02. To Cross The Bridge
03. Nemesis
04. Razorhoof
05. Speed Wolf
06. Eyes & Teeth
07. Hung Drawn & Quartered
08. Witching Hour (VENOM cover)

HIGH ON FIRE's Matt Pike (guitar, vocals) and Des Kensel (drums) were the featured guests on the October 26, 2008 edition of Indie 103.1 FM's specialty metal program "Chaos with Full Metal Jackie". The interview is now available for streaming at this location.

Upcoming HIGH ON FIRE shows:

Dec. 13 - The Blue Lamp - Sacramento, California
Dec. 18 - Great American Music Hall - San Francisco, California

HIGH ON FIRE's latest album, "Death Is This Communion", was released in September 2007 and has received critical acclaim the world over. Produced by Jack Endino (GREEN RIVER, NIRVANA, SOUNDGARDEN),the CD features some of the band's most intricate songs and arrangements while still maintaining the bruising power of its previous work.

The band's 2004 album, "Blessed Black Wings", was produced by Steve Albini (BIG BLACK, PJ HARVEY). Both producers are known more for underground alternative rock than metal, a fact that made both more appealing to Matt Pike.
