HIRAX To Play Mexico In October

September 5, 2006

Underground metal champions HIRAX will tour Mexico beginning in Tijuana on October 14, followed by a highly anticipated East Coast tour in November.

"The fans in Mexico are unbelievably supportive," said vocalist Katon De Pena. "To them, heavy metal is religion. The East Coast has been supporting our music since the very first album came out in 1985. We are looking forward to hitting all of the cities and playing for the headbangers!! We did one-offs back East over the past two years to test the waters and all of the shows over there were very successful."

On August 26, HIRAX co-headlined the Minneapolis Mayhem III Festival, where they played a new song, titled "Lucifer's Inferno", which will be on their forthcoming record, "Assassins of War", to be released on Black Devil Records in early 2007. The band has five songs completed and they are hard at work writing and rehearsing in between tour dates.

"'Lucifer's Inferno' is about Armageddon — the world coming to an end and the dark prince of Hell coming to claim his throne," said De Pena. "Every time we play the song to the audience for the first time, we can see jaws drop. People seem to be taking it all in. And when the song changes tempo to the lightening fast epic ending, they are blown away! We have had a lot of positive reactions to the new material. The fans say they are looking forward to the new album and so are we."

In other news, HIRAX guitarist Glenn Rogers has been endorsed by Krank Amplification. Rogers uses a Krank Revolution 100-watt head.

"The staff at Krank Amp shipped the Revolution head to me about a month ago," said Rogers. "The tone is brutal and the amp is very reliable. The Krank Amplification crew is excellent and their equipment is perfect for the HIRAX sound."

HIRAX will be interviewed on KNAC.COM on Sunday, October 8 from 3 to 5 p.m. (PDT). The band will play in Hollywood, California on December 16. This will be the first time that HIRAX will play on the Sunset Strip.

Also on the HIRAX-related front, Katon and the rest of the band would like to send out their condolences to the family and friends of Jesse Pintado (TERRORIZER, ex-NAPALM DEATH).

"He was a great friend and an incredible musician," said De Pena. "We have lost a brother of metal, but he will not be forgotten. Rest in Peace."
