HOT AUGUST METAL FEST Expands Into Two-Day Seattle Event

March 1, 2007

Tacoma Scene Media has announced that its long-planned-for Hot August Metal Fest: A Deathphonic Black Metal Crusade, will have its debut over a two-evening period instead of the originally planned one day.

Also being announced is the confirmation of band number three, Seattle's melodic black metal band INQUINOK. Three additional impressive black metal groups, and all from central Canada who will be accompanying previously confirmed Canadian black metal mystics WOLVEN ANCESTRY (from Sudbury, Ontario, Canada) on their cross-Canada-U.S. tour are also confirmed for the event: VERBAL DECEPTION (Calgary, Alberta, Canada),NEFASTUS DIES (Montreal, Quebec, Canada) and PANZERFAUS (Mississauga, Ontario, Canada). As previously announced, CEREMONIAL CASTINGS (from Battle Ground, Washington, USA) is scheduled to appear as well. Additional acts will be announced at a later date.

Previously scheduled to be a one-day affair, the event was expanded into a two-evening metal fest scheduled for Friday and Saturday, August 24 and August 25. Friday's show is scheduled for doors to open at 7:00 p.m. with music at 7:30, and will embrace five time slots. Saturday's show will be scheduled for doors to open at 5:00 p.m. with music at 5:30, and will embrace seven time slots. Both shows will be all-ages, bar with valid ID.

Tickets for the event will first be able to be purchased beginning in April through TicketsWest and may be limited. This event's inaugural two-day-event pre-sale tickets, for $20.00 USD purchased through April and May, will include one event T-shirt (size XL) per ticket. Event T-shirts will be available only for ticket purchasers during April and May and may be claimed upon entry to the venue with the respective tickets and will be validated for receipt of shirt. There will also be a limited number of free passes for active duty military.

Organizer and promoter Terry Kuehn indicated that Studio Seven in downtown Seattle has been the venue selected to host this inaugural event. Studio Seven is noted to be one of the area's premiere rock clubs, specializing in showcasing some of the industry's best local, regional, national and international musical acts.

In explaining the phrase "A Deathphonic Black Metal Crusade," Kuehn emphasized that he has long been an admirer of ProgPower USA and its long-standing euphoric presentations surrounding prog metal artists and the prog metal community. He indicated that the "crusade" aspect of the Hot August Metal Fest is to embellish an ambiance of symphonic death metal — a genre of music which is often sequentially orchestral in nature and compelling to the soul. He also commented that death metal bands, more often than thought to be, are so often into true nature and the universe and historical events and elements general to common man — a genre of music that suffers from mis-sighted beauty.

Additional information and periodic updates regarding Hot August Metal may be viewed at the MySpace site set up for it.
