House Owned By Original KISS Guitarist ACE FREHLEY Damaged In Fire

December 14, 2013

According to The Journal News, a house owned by original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley in Yorktown in Northern Westchester County, New York, 35 miles from New York City, was damaged in a fire earlier today (Saturday, December 14).

Fire officials received a call about the blaze at about 11 a.m. and firefighters were still on the scene at 3:30 p.m. Flames burned through the roof of the stone house, which was reportedly occupied by a caretaker.

In a recent radio interview, Frehley commented on reports that he was fighting a foreclosure action on his Yorktown home, the $735,000 mortgage on which the guitarist reportedly stopped paying on March 1, 2011.

"I left the house over two and a half years ago," he said. "My attorney is taking care of it. It's not in foreclosure. Things got blown out of propotion. Somebody didn't take care of what they were supposed to do. And my attorney is taking care of it. But, basically, I'm out in California now, and I have people living on that property, taking care of it, and they've been showing it to people who are interested in possibly purchasing it. And the whole thing was kind of a misunderstanding."

Frehley was transferred ownership to the property in 2004 by Jendell Productions, which bought the home in November 2000 for $650,000.

Jendell is the name of the fictional home planet for Frehley's extraterrestrial "Spaceman" stage character, who wore silver face paint and black lipstick.

Asked how he likes living in California, Frehley said: "I've lived in New York my whole life. A lot of people used to come out to California and say, 'Hey, what are you doing? You are a traitor.' But since I've been out here, I don’t see myself coming back. I like the climate. I couldn't do the winters anymore. Once you hit 60, it's, like, get me outta here."

Frehley performed with KISS from its inception in 1973 until his first departure in 1982 before rejoining KISS in 1996 for a very successful reunion tour. Frehley's second stint lasted until 2002 as Ace went back to being a solo artist again.

Ace's latest album, "Anomaly", was released on September 15, 2009 via Ace's own Bronx Born Records, with Rocket Science providing a full label service platform in the U.S., "Anomaly" was produced and recorded in Westchester County, New York between 2007 and 2009 and was mixed in Los Angeles.
