HUSH MAGAZINE's TOMMY BOLIN 15th-Anniversary Issue Available
December 5, 2009Spain's Hush Magazine has published its 15th anniversary special Tommy Bolin issue (see cover image below).
To many, Tommy Bolin was the legitimate heir to Jimi Hendrix's rock guitar throne. Stints with the JAMES GANG and DEEP PURPLE — as well as solo albums and a groundbreaking release with jazz-rocker Billy Cobham — certainly proved that the adulation was rightly deserved. And with a techno-color fashion sense, he certainly stood out from the pack. Only one problem, Tommy had a death-defying drug addiction, which ultimately would lead to a premature and tragic end in 1976 — before he was able to truly take his standing among the elite musicians of the world.
Sioux City, Iowa resident Trace Keane came up with the original idea for the magazine and conducted over a dozen interviews with many of Bolin's former bandmates, family members, and friends, and has collected many never-before-seen photos. Keane has also booked and produced scores of radio documentaries nationwide related to the late DEEP PURPLE guitarist.
Hush Magazine is printed entirely in Spanish. English-language translations of the articles included in the issue will appear on the Tommy Bolin web site in December.
