IGGY POP Performs MADONNA Tribute; Video Available

March 11, 2008

IGGY POP performed a tribute to Madonna Monday night (March 10) at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

The rocker and his band THE STOOGES — who opened for MADONNA in Dublin, Ireland, on her "Re-Invention Tour" in 2004 — were chosen by Madonna to sing "Burning Up" and "Ray of Light" at the ceremony in New York’s Waldorf-Astoria Hotel before Justin Timberlake presented the "Queen of Pop" with her award. At the end, a shirtless Pop said, "you make me feel shiny and new, like a virgin touched for the very first time," and tossed his microphone to the floor, according to The Associated Press.
