IMPENDING DOOM: New Song Posted Online
January 22, 2009"The Serpent Servant", the title track from the upcoming album by California-based Christian death metallers IMPENDING DOOM, is available for streaming on the band's MySpace page. The CD was recorded at Lambesis Studios in San Diego with Tim Lambesis and Daniel Castleman (AS I LAY DYING, WAR OF AGES, WINDS OF PLAGUE) and is due on March 31 through Facedown Records. It was mixed and mastered by Zeuss (HATEBREED, SHADOWS FALL, TERROR).
"We've broken down the musical boundaries for this album," guitarist Manny Contreras says. "We're just playing what we love and bringing together several different genres while staying true to who we are as a band."
The band is currently out on the road with UNEARTH, EMMURE, and BORN OF OSIRIS. They'll take off again in February with BLEEDING THROUGH, THE ACACIA STRAIN, and AS BLOOD RUNS BLACK.
IMPENDING DOOM's debut album, "Nailed. Dead. Risen.", was released in September 2007 via Facedown Records.
IMPENDING DOOM refers to its style of Christian metal as "gorship" — a portmanteau of gore and worship. The band also clarify on their MySpace blog that "gorship" is their way of worshipping God through their gore-sounding music; not worshipping "gore" as some are led to believe.
