IN FLAMES: Milan Concert Cancelled

July 12, 2008

Italian news blog Musica Metal reports that Swedish metallers IN FLAMES were forced to cancel tonight's (Saturday, July 12) headlining appearance at the Evolution Festival after a 10-minute hailstorm hit the open-air Idroscalo arena in Milan, Italy (see video below). The band and its crew did their best to keep the show from being called off, but after a 90-minute delay, an announcement was made that the concert was being cancelled.

Musica Metal has uploaded photos from the first day of the two-day Evolution festival, which kicked off Friday (July 11) in Milan. Pictures of DARK TRANQUILLITY, SONATA ARCTICA, CAVALERA CONSPIRACY, EVERGREY and KORPIKLAANI can be viewed at this location.

According to a posting on the site, yesterday's attendance was not as high as was the case with the festival's previous installments. KORPIKLAANI's folk metal elicited dances among the crowd, whereas CAVALERA CONSPIRACY's many SEPULTURA cover songs drew a huge moshpit in front of the stage. DARK TRANQUILLITY also officially announced that the band's first live DVD would be recorded in Milan on October 31. As has been the case with all of CAVALERA CONSPIRACY's recent concerts, guitarist/vocalist Max Cavalera's 12-year-old son Igor joined the group onstage behind the drum kit to play a note-perfect version of SEPULTURA's classic song "Troops Of Doom".
