IN GRIEF Parts Ways With Guitarist

August 17, 2010

Guitarist Jonas Andreassen has left Norway's IN GRIEF. The band states, "Jonas is moving to Lillehammer by the end of August. We are really going to miss him, because he is a awesome guy and a great guitarist. But IN GRIEF will, of course, go on and we have a new guitarplayer ready for launch."

IN GRIEF's seven-song, 45-minute debut, "Deserted Soul", was released last year via Bombworks Records.

Hailing from Norway, IN GRIEF plays its own brand of extreme metal which can best be described as atmospheric progressive death metal. Each song has an epic feel to it, with lots of dynamic contrasts, tempo changes, memorable melodies, great riffing, and plenty of heaviness. Taking a chapter from bands like OPETH, the band is content to take its time to let a song build up before unleashing its fury on you, all the while appeasing the listener with well-crafted melodies and rhythms.
