India's PARIKRAMA Wows IRON MAIDEN

April 28, 2007

Shridevi Keshavan of Daily News & Analysis reports: After rocking the country for several years, PARIKRAMA has finally bagged a performance of a lifetime. The Indian rock band, which opened the IRON MAIDEN show in Bangalore a while back, impressed the international legends so much that they got invited to participate in the prestigious Download festival in the U.K. in June this year.

Touted as the monster of all festival, this year's line up boasts of some huge acts including MARILYN MANSON, LED ZEPPELIN, IRON MAIDEN, EVANESCENCE, LINKIN PARK and the like.

"The band members IRON MAIDEN encouraged us while we were playing. We played two extra songs on their request. After the show, the manager Rod Smallwood asked for our details, promising to get us a show abroad," says Subir Malik (keyboardist/synthesizer),adding that they will be performing on the main stage at the concert.

However, there is a chance PARIKRAMA may not make it to the festival. While IRON MAIDEN is taking care of a major chunk of their trip, they still need financial support from corporate India. "We can be assured about the trip only once the sponsorships come in. We are still awaiting responses from them," informs Subir.
