The original lineup of INFECTIOUS GROOVES — featuring Mike Muir (SUICIDAL TENDENCIES),Robert Trujillo (METALLICA),Stephen Perkins (JANE'S ADDICTION),Dean Pleasants (SUICIDAL TENDENCIES),and special guest Jim Martin (ex-FAITH NO MORE, filling in for original guitarist Adam Siegel) — reunited for a headlining concert this past Friday night (January 31) at Whisky A Go Go in Hollywood, California as part of the legendary venue's month-long 50th-anniversary celebration.

Official Whisky a Go Go video footage of the "Violent & Funky" performance from Friday night's show can be seen below.

INFECTIOUS GROOVES previously performed at METALLICA's Orion Music + More festival on June 8, 2013 at Belle Isle in Detroit, Michigan.

Trujillo last year told about the possibility of more INFECTIOUS GROOVES live performances in the future: "It always seemed like we had a strong fan base on the West Coast, and the other spot where the band was ridiculously popular, believe it or not, was in France. I always think of it like this; if there's a demand, we'll find a way to do it. And it seems like at least the band is going to be rehearsed and ready to go. So as long as it doesn't take away from METALLICA or anyone else's other priority bands, anything's possible."

Regarding INFECTIOUS GROOVES' appearance at Orion Music + More, METALLICA frontman James Hetfield told "Even just having SUICIDAL [in 2012], seeing those guys, (Trujillo) and Mike Muir together again, they're quite an intimidating team to me. When SUICIDAL toured with us a ways back, there's no way I would've thought that bass player was going to be in our band one day 'cause he looked like such a part of that band. So I'm extremely grateful he's in our band."

INFECTIOUS GROOVES was formed soon after Trujillo joined SUICIDAL TENDENCIES in 1989. Muir and Trujillo got together with some friends to write song that centered more around the bass, but with the intent of giving everyone else a whole lot of freedom.

"SEX PISTOLS and PARLIAMENT were my two favorite bands when I was young," commented Muir. "People think they're completely different but I saw a lot of similarities, even if musically they were categorized as completely different styles. There's something beautiful about breaking rules that never should have been made."
