INTERSCOPE Confirms GUNS N' ROSES Tour Cancellation
December 9, 2002A spokesperson for Interscope Records has confirmed to MTV News that GUNS N' ROSES' first tour in almost a decade has been cancelled, but did not did not immediately offer a reason for the cancellation. A spokesperson for the First Union Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania told the Associated Press that the date there was cancelled after a bandmember (reported to be frontman Axl Rose) fell ill.
Meanwhile, gossip swirling over the weekend suggests that Clear Channel Entertainment, promoter for the tour, pulled the plug on the trek as Rose canceled another show just moments before the band was to take the stage. There is also speculation of a major rift between Rose and his managers at Sanctuary and mass dissension within the group itself.
