ION VEIN: Drummer's Shoulder Surgery Forces GAMMA RAY Gig Cancellation

April 24, 2006

Chicago-based prog/power metallers ION VEIN have been forced to cancel their previously announced May 12 appearance with GAMMA RAY in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The group's drummer, Chuck White, "has been in agonizing pain for months and has been patiently awaiting a date for [major shoulder] surgery which they finally gave him and which is unfortunately today," the band write in a statement. "It will be at least two months before he regains full use of his arm so please wish him well. . . Thanks to Nathan Block and John McGovern for putting us on the bill in the first place and for being so understanding. CELLADOR and MIRROR BLACK have been added to the bill in place of us so this will surely be a kick-ass show."

ION VEIN, who recently parted ways with the U.K.'s Now and Then Records, have begun recording their third album at Rax Trax Studios in Chicago, with producer Neil Kernon once again manning the helm. "We will be searching for a new label home once the recording is complete so there is no timeframe at this point for a release date," the band had previously said.
