July 28, 2008

Turkey's Sabah reports that a significant number of tourists flocked to Istanbul last night (Sunday, July 27) to see the legendary heavy metal band METALLICA perform at the Ali Sami Yen Stadium. Some of the group's fans began to line up for the concert at 5:00 a.m. yesterday morning. A METALLICA fan from Iran stated, "My country's regime would not allow such a concert to take place; that's why I came to see them in Istanbul. I cannot even dream of seeing this concert in my own country."

METALLICA's setlist for the Istanbul concert:

01. Creeping Death
02. For Whom The Bell Tolls
03. Ride The Lightning

06. Leper Messiah

Two of Scandinavia's biggest online music retailers — Ginza.se and CDON.COM — are listing September 30 as the release date for the new METALLICA album, "Death Magnetic".

METALLICA has yet to officially announce a release date for the CD, which will be available to download for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock on the same day the album arrives in stores.

The band is offering the record for sale in numerous configurations, ranging from a digital-only release to a deluxe "coffin box" that will come with a bonus CD, a DVD, a T-shirt, guitar picks and other goodies.

METALLICA is currently on tour in Europe and is expected to begin a North American jaunt in October.
