IRON MAIDEN: Spain's METALWAY Festival Cancelled
July 12, 2008British heavy metal legends IRON MAIDEN have cancelled their headlining performance at today's (Saturday, July 12) Metalway Festival in Zaragoza, Spain. The band said in a statement, "Due to massive storm damage to the staging and PA and lights in the the last 24 hours or so, today's Zaragoza [show] cannot take place. At this stage it looks unlikely, due to the extent of the damage, that the Metalway Festival can be rescheduled. MAIDEN are sorry that it seems unlikely that they can appear for their fans in Zaragoza. MAIDEN's equipment had not arrived on-site when the storm occurred so this has no effect on continuing MAIDEN's shows in Scandinavia and elsewhere."
ThinkSpain.com reported earlier today that last night's (Friday, July 11) Monsters of Rock festival in Feria de Muestras, Zaragoza, Spain was washed out by a violent fifteen-minute wind and hail storm that also disrupted the 2008 international exhibition cultural program.
One spectator was hospitalized after being hit by a metal scaffolding plank, but was not seriously injured.
Around 7,000 heavy metal fans had been looking forward to a star-studded line-up, including the likes of DEEP PURPLE, THIN LIZZY and TWISTED SISTER.
