Israeli Metal Documentary To Premiere This Month

February 7, 2010

MetalIsrael.com" target="_blank">MetalIsrael.com reports that "Metal Kachol Lavan" (Blue & White) — known in English as "Metal IL" — is a grassroots documentary exposing the thriving Israeli metal scene.

The film's premiere will be held on February 23 at the Tel Aviv Cinemateque at 17.30. Entrance is free, but if you want to guarantee a seat, contact the Facebookevent page here.

Director Mike Kaykov, 18, lives in Tel-Aviv, Israel. He tells MetalIsrael.com: "It took me something like two years to finish it. I studied film making for about a year before as an after-school activity in a program called Zoom In. They co-operate with the municipality of Tel Aviv to encourage and educate young people to create and develop themselves — and they gave me the right equipment."

Mike traveled the whole country, from Tel Aviv to Herzeliya, and even Kfar-Saba, filming over 22 bands and more than 30 live shows on his own.

Bands interviewed include:

ORPHANED LAND
THE FADING
WHORECORE
VISCERA TRAIL
MATRICIDE
SYSTEM DIVIDE
DRACONIAN
(Sweden)

The film includes performance footage from the following acts:

SALEM
NEGATIVE PROJECTION
ARAFEL
FERIUM
ETERNAL GRAY
PREY FOR NOTHING
FIDELITY
DARK SERPENT
DISTORTED
IMMATERIAL
ABORTED
SABATON
GODWRATH
CAPILLARIES

Mike asserts that making this documentary was "not as easy as it sounds. This is the first and only documentary that has ever been created in the Holy Land specifically for Israeli metal.

"I'm very [happy] with this film. It took me like forever, but I'm very [happy with] it."
