It's Official: AEROSMITH Frontman To Return For Next Season Of 'American Idol'

August 10, 2011

"American Idol" executive producer Nigel Lythgoe announced on Ryan Seacrest's radio show this morning that AEROSMITH frontman Steven Tyler, actress/singer Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson will all return to the judges' table for season 11 of the popular Fox reality series.

Lopez will reportedly earn $20 million next season, a nice raise from the $12 million she is said to have gotten for her first season. Tyler is expected to get an increase as well.

Despite Tyler's insistence that AEROSMITH would play the finale of the last season of "American Idol", AEROSMITH guitarist Joe Perry said in an online posting that the band was "never asked by producers" to perform at the event. He added that "Brad [Whitford, AEROSMITH guitarist had] a gig that night with [Experience Hendrix]. [It was] not logistically possible."

Perry did write that AEROSMITH is "looking forward to playing 'American Idol' next season when our new CD is out and we can prepare [for] a kick-ass show if they ask us."
