It's Official: AMON AMARTH Added To SLAYER's 'The Unholy Alliance: Chapter III' European Tour

As BLABBERMOUTH.NET first reported on June 30, Swedish Viking metallers AMON AMARTH have now been officially added to "The Unholy Alliance: Chapter III" tour alongside the previously announced bands SLAYER, TRIVIUM and MASTODON. AMON AMARTH will play after MASTODON and before TRIVIUM and SLAYER in Germany and Sweden. AMON AMARTH will play before MASTODON in all other territories.

Commented AMON AMARTH frontman Johan Hegg: "All of us have been huge fans of SLAYER since the mid-'80s, and to be able to tour with this legendary thrash band is a dream come true. We are very proud and honored to be a part of this year's Unholy Alliance together with TRIVIUM and MASTODON. SLAYER fans are die-hard and tough as true Vikings — we know as we are part of the same crowd — and it will be a great experience to be able to play in front of them."

The UK portion of the tour is co-headlined by SLAYER and TRIVIUM, with SLAYER closing all shows. The mainland Europe portion is headlined by SLAYER, with TRIVIUM as "special guest."

AMON AMARTH has set "Twilight of the Thunder God" as the title of its seventh full-length album, due in Europe on September 22 via Metal Blade Records (September 19 in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Italy). The CD title was revealed by AMON AMARTH frontman Johan Hegg during an interview with the "Tinitus" radio show, which airs on Norway's P3.

"Twilight of the Thunder God" was recorded at Fascination Street Studio in Örebro, Sweden and will include such songtitles as "Guardians of Asgaard", "Live for the Kill" and "Tattered Banners and Bloody Flags".

AMON AMARTH will play four shows at Zeche in Bochum, Germany in late December under the banner "Bloodshed Over Bochum". The band will play one of the first four albums in its entirety each night along with a "best-of" mix from "Fate Of Norns" (2004),"With Oden On Our Side" (2006) and the upcoming album.

Dec. 29 - "The Avenger" (1999)
Dec. 30 - "The Crusher" (2001)
Dec. 31 - "Versus The World" (2002)

The shows will also include:

* Meet-and-greet with the band
* Special merchandise sold at each show
* New Year's Eve Party on December 31

As previously reported, AMON AMARTH will embark on a North American headlining tour in October. Support on the trek will come from the Tampa melodic trash outfit THE ABSENCE.
