JAMES HETFIELD Talks About METALLICA's Stage Setup

November 18, 2004

METALLICA frontman James Hetfield recently spoke to San Antonio radio station 99.5 Kiss regarding the current tour and the "in-the-round" stage setup:

Said James: "The main thing is intimacy, trying to get as close as possible and eye contact is pretty important. The closer you are, the more you can feel it, you can slap hands, you can sweat on them, you can feel the heat from the pyro. We wanted to play on the actual floor, but it didn't make much sense for wiring and all that sense, so we're about 3 feet off the floor...we're in the middle, there's an amazing amount of front row. Every seat is quite a good one, because the way the lighting is on top...it's clear in between...there's no site line that are blocked, so everyone's got a good shot."

The station will have interviews and show reports this weekend when the band stop by in San Antonio.
