JANE'S ADDICTION Guitarist Comments On DUFF MCKAGAN's Departure (Audio)

September 22, 2010

JANE'S ADDICTION guitarist Dave Navarro was interviewed on yesterday's (Tuesday, September 21) edition of "The Kevin & Bean Show" on the Los Angeles radio station KROQ-FM (106.7). You can now listen to the program below. (Note: The Navarro inteview begins around the 64-minute mark.)

When asked about bassist Duff McKagan's departure from JANE'S ADDICTION after just five months of playing with the group, Navarro said, "Duff was with us for a little while. We wrote some songs with him, did a handful of shows, did some European shows... It was great; he's an amazing writer and an amazing player. At the end of the day, I think his band, VELVET REVOLVER, is trying to get their thing back together and they're auditioning singers. So we wish him the best with that. . . As far a [new] bass player, we don't really have anybody right now in mind. The three of us — Perry [Farrell, vocals], Stephen [Perkins, drums] and myself — are writing and hashing out the songs."

With VELVET REVOLVER on hiatus since 2008, McKagan recorded and toured with LOADED before joining JANE'S ADDICTION. He and LOADED recently completed recording a new album in Seattle.

JANE'S ADDICTION quietly reunited in late 2008 for a third go-round, only with founding bassist Eric Avery on board for the first time since the band originally split in 1992. However, Avery left late last year and McKagan stepped in to play a few gigs and work on the band's new album.

JANE'S ADDICTION just released its first-ever concert DVD and Blu-ray, titled "Live Voodoo".

There's no word yet on when the new JANE'S ADDICTION album will come out or what it will be called.

Navarro is among the celebrities who will be honored at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals' (PETA) 30th Anniversary Gala and Humanitarian Awards, which will be held on September 25 in Hollywood, California. Hosted by Alec Baldwin, the event will celebrate 30 years of cutting-edge campaigns that have brought about monumental change for animals and are leading to even more progress. This memorable night will feature a celebrity awards presentation, wonderful musical performances and other top-notch entertainment, delectable vegan food, unique silent auction items, and more in a historic and famous Hollywood setting.
