JANI LANE On VH1 CLASSIC's 'That Metal Show'; Preview Clip Available
August 25, 2011On July 23, former WARRANT singer Jani Lane who was found dead two weeks ago in a Los Angeles-area hotel took part in a taping of an episode of the "That Metal Show" alongside Michael Sweet (STRYPER) and Taime Downe (FASTER PUSSYCAT) (see photos below). The program featuring Lane was originally scheduled to premiere on October 1 on VH1 Classic but has had its air date moved up to August 27.
A preview clip from this coming weekend's episode can be seen below.
Jani Lane on how he got the gig as the singer of WARRANT: "My band broke up, PLAIN JANE, and Steven, the drummer, and I were considering moving back to Florida and I got a knock on the door there was a note on the door saying, 'We're the guys from WARRANT, our singer and drummer quit last night in San Diego. We know you can sing and you're a good frontman. If you can write, you're in the band. So come down to DB Sound [rehearsal studios in Hollywood] tonight.' So I went down and played them 'Down Boys', 'Heaven', and 'Dirty Rotten Filthy Stinkin' Rich', and they said, 'You're in the band.'"
"The Very Hairy Rock Show", which airs on 96 Rock radio station in Raleigh, North Carolina, conducted an interview with Sweet on August 12 about his meeting with Lane. That chat can be streamed in the YouTube clip below.
In an online posting, Sweet said, "I'm still in shock over the sudden passing of Jani. I was just sitting in a dressing room with him less than a month ago. Had I known, I would have spent more time with him. He was a good-hearted guy with a gentle soul. I know he had a tough life and many battles, but who doesn't? He seemed to be genuinely working so hard at sorting things out and getting things in order. It's a true shame."
