JERRY CANTRELL To Issue "Degradation Trip" On May 14th

January 19, 2002

ALICE IN CHAINS guitarist Jerry Cantrell will issue his long-awaited sophomore solo effort through Roadrunner Records on May 14th, the guitarist told WMRQ Radio 104 in Hartford, Connecticut. When asked if the label's success with SLIPKNOT and NICKELBACK influenced his decision to sign with Roadrunner, Cantrell stated: "Sure it did. I think they're doing some exciting things and they've had some success, and as a smaller label that's important to me, number one, definitely. Another thing I like about them is just their enthusiasm and it seems that it's a family-type vibe." To hear Cantrell speaking on the subject of signing with Roadrunner (in Real Audio),click here.

As previously reported, the axeman's debut release for the label, Degradation Trip, will be a single-CD compilation of the strongest cuts from the Degradation Trip Vol. 1 and 2 sessions, which took place a year ago with the help of former FAITH NO MORE/KORN drummer Mike Bordin and OZZY/ex-SUICIDAL TENDENCIES bassist Robert Trujillo. 14 of the 25 songs the aforementioned band laid down as part of the original recording process will be featured on the album, with a two-CD version due to be released at a later point containing all the songs tracked during the same sessions. The tentative singles from Degradation Trip are "Angel Eyes" and "Anger Rising", both of which will be accompanied by video clips, to be lensed in the coming months. Degradation Trip will be Cantrell's first album since 1998's Boggy Depot.
